Halloween 2009 For Humans

Top 2009 Halloween costumes: Dead celebrities - Money.CNN.com

When I was in the costume store, there were a lot of takers for Michael Jackson so I agree with that one in the article. The zombies and vampire craze makes sense too with all those movies and shows out. I personally want to be a pirate in Vegas so I can swim at Treasue Island without getting in trouble. I never spend a lot if any money of costumes. I feel like its a waste of money. Now that I decided that I would splurge this one year, I remember other reasons I hate it. Like not being able to find the costume in your size, or at all. New plan is brewing...

The one I wanted and can't get followed by two cute other options.

I Went To DC

My college roommate Carla lives in DC with her boyfriend Russell and we are still in touch and friends so I went down to visit her this past weekend. Coincidentally, some of my birthright boys live down there too and Ben just moved into a new apartment and was having a house warming party. On top of all that, David was working a job in West Virginia so since he was close enough, he drove in for the weekend as well. It all ended up being a nice little trip.

I took Eastern bus there, and found a website that discounts $5, so it was only $35 round trip. The bus left from 34th so it really couldn't have been much easier for me and it left slightly earlier then scheduled so I was glad I got there early. Besides the employees screaming at each other and some confused customers, once you get through the chaos the bus is clean and totally fine.

I left at 8:30 and thought I could sleep but the driver was yelling in a high pitched voice in Chinese the entire 5 hours so there was not too much sleep I could get and I was somewhat disgruntled from that. Once I got to Carla's though, all was fine. I had a really nice weekend and enjoyed DC.

We watched the Buckeye game (they won), played some Wii Fit (my balance is slightly to the right, I have a normal BMI, and my Wii age is 36! Not good! Wii Fit is my next large purchase, I think it is awesome.) went to Ben's, Carla got wasted because thats what she does when shes with me, and its fun as ever! We met some people, went to her friends apartment and played more Wii and deep fried Bagel Bites. Yes thats right, this kid had a deep fryer and made Bagel Bites in them.

On our not so smart walk home through the hood at around 2am, Carla and I came up with a new game plan. When females walk, men call at them. Carla and I came up with a really good comeback that we both plan to try. The next time a guy hollers and asks for our name, we will turn around, smile, and then proceed to twitch and stutter a ton and just say ridiculous things (think Jimmy on South Park). Too bad all we came up with was, "My husband wouldnt be too happy with me" to which his response was "That's aight, my wife dont got to know either." Classy.

Sunday we walked to Dupont, passed a Breast Cancer walk (two pugs had little t-shirts on and wore pink bead necklaces, so cute) and also by a lot of participants on their way to the Equality March. We stopped at this place called Luna for brunch and it was gross. If you dont know how to poach an egg, dont serve them! I actually felt pretty sick from the whole thing and made it kinda difficult to sit through the Browns game (they won too!) in a dark bar and on the bus after that. I felt so puky. :( It's such a frusterating feeling when you spend more money than you want to on a bad meal. But I made it home by 9:30 without getting sick and maybe in a year, I will make a comeback to our nation's capitol.

Carla and I like to explore the parks in DC. This lovely one is right in between her house and Ben's.

Sachlove reunion!

Irving Penn

Irving Penn, a photographer, died on October 7th at the age of 92. I know him mostly from this one image in particular that ran on the cover of Vogue, but is now sold at all those poster set ups on the streets. This one:

Here are some other good ones:

My Monkey Baby

I was watching The Soup and they had a clip from a show that immediately turned my ears up. Its on TLC and it is called My Monkey Baby. I searched on my tv but I dont think we get this show. I would LOVE to watch it though! It is my fantasy to own a monkey!
I really cant even find that much about it. Here is one site if you are just as intrigued as I am: http://www.channel4.com/programmes/my-monkey-baby

Paris Fashion Week

Paris Fashion Week is Couture Fantasy as far as I am concerned. It's such a show. Just today, the Chanel show had live barn animals and hay and just madness. http://www.style.com/stylefile/2009/10/front-row-tweet-chanels-barnstormer/

Lauren and Jerry's Wedding

I went to a wedding with David this weekend at Brush Country Club in Cleveland Ohio. It was a gorgeous affair and I had a great time. I loved the colors, the dresses, the band, the cake... and I am pretty judgmental about that stuff! I knit pick every little thing. Not to be mean, but because I love the planning aspect and want to be a wedding planner at heart.

After Church we went to David's friend Molly's. She just bought this really cute new home and we had a mini fiesta were I made guac. Molly also has a really adorbs blog and is awesome in the kitchen. She rocked my guac with her salsa. Then we headed to the party.

Once some more pics go up I can add them but words will have to do for now. I wasnt crazy with my camera as I normally am because it was different for me at this wedding. At the past two, I was in the bridal party and knew the couples well (kinda, never met Lilli's husband but I knew her since I was 2). I was a guest this time and really didnt know much about the couple. I met them once and they are very nice but its a different experience when you arent in the bridal party, let alone just a guest. It was great, I am just less outgoing with my camera.

Her bridesmaid dresses were a deep purple and fit everyone great. They also had pockets which was so cool because you couldnt tell and one of the girls even had a little fruit snack in there instead of a tissue! She was awesome. The bouquets were orangy roses. More like yellow with red but a gorgeous contrast against the dresses. Her dress was something I really loved as well but can't explain it. Throughout the wedding they had their initials on things like the invitations, the centerpieces, the napkins. But it wasnt overdone.

And then there was the band. The GDaddies were one of the grooms two requests. He wanted 80s and specifically Journey to play. Well he got that. They were awesome!

On the flight home, we were so early we had to circle a bit in the air and it was the perfect time. Right when the sun was setting and we flew up north a bit, and turned around at New Rochelle. I never flew up that north before and it was really cool to see everything. I took a pic of coarse.

Israeli Update

My friend Harper moved to Israel this past week. Harper is always searching for things that make her happy and refuses to settle for anything less. The best thing about her though is that she actually goes through with what she wants to do. She is also lucky enough to have extremely supportive parents always encouraging her in her search for happiness. Harper is keeping up on her blog and I bet there will be some pretty great stories to come. I wish her the best of luck in her new Tel Aviv Israeli adventure!

You can read her blog here: http://gpspero.com/bigcitygirl/

On another Israeli note, a video was released of captured soldier Gilad Shalit. He has been in captivity for 1198 days as of today. This video was handed over for 20 female Palestinian terrorists. 1 2 minute video for 20 lives. Wow.
