White Pants Experiment

I bought white pants, of coarse a week before Labor Day. I wore them yesterday and I could only imagine the stains to come. The end result...dirt on the bottom part where I had to fold them and a little blood near the ankle where I scratched myself. Not bad!

Work

Work is confusing. I quit. For the second time. I am writing here now so when I get bombarded with rediculousness again, I can come back here, remember how angry I am, and not give in. It's unbelievable how crazy people can get away with so much.

Dude Be Crazy

I watched a video of KC and JoJo perform in Austrailia and was confused for two reasons. 1. Why are they still performing and people going crazy over "All My Life"? and 2. WTF is going on? When someone falls, you assist them. A man simply walks over, picks up the mic, and leaves while his brother continues to perform. Perez recently posted this:

K-Ci wants y'all to know that his bro JoJo did NOT pass out during their Australian concert this past Saturday because of drugs.

JoJo's epileptic and the 20 hour flight to Oz did a number on his body, revealed K-ci to New York's Hot 97 Monday morning.

K-Ci also said he did not show concern initally when JoJo 'passed out' mid-way through their most popular song, All My Life, because laying down on stage is something that JoJo occasionally does when they perform.

K-Ci had strong words for Bill Gates as well. Frustrated by all the drug claims being hurled at brother JoJo on the internets, he railed at Gates for 'inventing the computer'.

And to prove that the bros don't do drugs, he told the Hot 97 crew that he can't even spell the word 'cocaine' and that he avoids drinking Coke because it sounds too much like 'cocaine'.

WHAT THE HELL IS DUDE SAYING???

Lux Liner vs. Jitney

Holy crap. What a difference. From the seats, to the entertainment, to the ticketing process. Lux Liner wins hands down in every category.

I was not planning to go to the Hamptons this weekend but I did. After nursing Asilam back to health (a.k.a. brought her saltines and Gatorade), going to see a movie, and sleeping with her devilish kittens, I just couldn't bear the thought of leaving her side so I accompanied her to a job in East Hampton. It actually wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. We took the Luxury Liner out there and had the pleasure of watching Neverwas. I don't even know where to begin with this fucking movie. Let's just say it was about crazies, and a guy who claimed to be a king in a kingdom who actually was just a homeless man who didnt want to leave his home in the woods and was fighting off the polices. I dont know how an all star cast was formed. Or why I am so distraught from this movie.

On the way home, we took the Jitney. Totally different world. No movie, just an old safety video. Ticketing was way confusing, they do it on the bus. The type of people was quite different as well. Asilam and I were the only Americans on the bus. Not a bad thing, it was just something to note when noting differences. Anyway, I would always insist taking the Lux Liner if ever heading out there again. I suggest you do the same.

The House Bunny

Thumbs up! I LOVED this movie! A lot had to do with the people I went with and the mood we were in but that said, I realized that I watch entirely too much Girls Next Door because I could name the 'extras' who were playmates in the background and I also laughed thinking I was probably one of the only people in the theatre who realized Matt Leinart's cameo (could use an acting class, unless he was playing himself). I totally love Anna Faris now. I thought she was annoying for a really long time but then I read this in TONY and after the movie, with the exception of her collagen filled lip, I have a new found respect for the lady. On a side note, lookalike alert. All American Rejects front man, Tyson Ritter, plays a little crush one of the girls has. He looks strikingly similar to actor Cillian Murphy (Batman Begins). See below, Tyson on left, Cillian on right.

18

There has been some talk about the discussion of lowering the drinking age to 18. When I attended Ohio State, I took a class called Alcohol and Society. It was an awsome class to say the least. Part of the coarse involved debates. Topics varied but one of them involved the drinking age. This was one of the more exciting topics that the entire class could have debated for days. I wish I still had my notes on the debate but the overall end vote concluded with the age being lowered to 18. I was one of the students who was pro for lowering the drinking age to 18. Many believed in the old enough to fight, old enough to drink vote. People found stats about binge drinking, etc. I do not feel that binge drinking and age have much to do with each other. Kids will drink when they drink. I think that it doesn't have to with a lawful age. I am proud that Ohio State is involved and supportive of this call for a debate!

Camping

I don't want to go far away, like 4 hours max in the car and even that is pushing it. Never been camping and as much as I want to do the tent thing and really go all out, it's easier to get people to go when a cottage in involved. Coming from Long Island, where does one go? No one I know does the camping thing and i'm generally good with online searches but this is proving to be difficult. There is a place in Ohio called Hocking Hills is a good cottage camping ground to compare to. Help!?!?

Drunken Interns

Professionalism in my office/job kinda has a huge gray area. We go to parties, we drink to do business. But when does the drinking and partying go over the top? Most fellow publicists I know make the majority of their networking buddies and friends through a drink. This is a problem for me cuz of the whole, allergic to alcohol thing, so I have to be that much cooler when I'm out. Kinda hard for me to do. Lots of pressure. If other drinking coworkers are around, its not so bad. But when 2 drinks turn into 8 shots and you're slurring words, calling reporters by the wrong name, and screwing up interviews, I'd say it's crossing the line.

I don't know how other companies work. We claim to have a no drinking on the job policy but we all know that's not a realistic policy. One time, I was working and apologizing for my then superior who was climbing the DJ booth to try to get Michael Strahan's Superbowl winning ass for an interview and making a fool out of herself, and the reporter simply turned to me and said. "Hey, its all part of the job!" That's when I was perplexed. Was I being a stuck up goodytwoshoes and should I just accept this madness? Or was I correct on my instinct of this particular situation being messed up? (FYI she ended up getting fired cuz she was in fact an alcoholic that couldn't keep her shit together.)

Thankfully 'nightlife' reporters and such are generally laid back and alchys themselves so it's usually not so much of an issue. But come on! You're on the job! Why would you WANT to get that trashed when dealing with national tv interviews and crowds of nasty people and complaining clients? Maybe it's hard for me to understand cuz I don't get a satisfaction from drinking that most do. Or maybe I just need to relax? I defiantly will admit im bitter cuz I cant go grab a drink and let loose as easily with a reporter. But still. Fine if AFTER the job is done. But during? I dunno.

Two drunken intern stories (note to self, I have to figure out how to do 'jumps').
We were doing an opening for a club in Times Square. Madness ensued. Drink tickets were sparse and the club was chaotic. So many people showed up and it was packed. I was put in charge of the press table. No one listens to a little white girl. My drunk superior (yes again), got on a couch to fight with the beast of a women in a fur coat and pigtails who was either a door girl or a bouncer. She was trying to take away the table and we were not having it. When another bouncer came, I just walked away. Then I was told the intern, who was 25 and at not only his first event but this was also his first day on the job, was wasted, creepy and had been fired. 3 times by 3 different people in the office. And if I were to see him, I was to fire him as well. Well, I did bump into the drunk/creepy ex intern a little later and wow, this kid was a winner. Eyes rolling in the back of his head, horrible convulsions that he thought was dancing. I told him to leave and he asked me for more drink tickets. I told him to leave again and he got so creepy I just walked away because i'd rather go watch Snoop perform. (Which he did with his cameras for his show, Run, D-Nice and DJ Cassidy. Earlier in the night, I was standing next to his body guard who I named Precious, cuz thats what every 500 pound, 7 foot tall black man should be named. I was next to Snoop when Drop It Like Its Hot came on and poked him in the shoulder and said "Hey! Remember when you sang this?" He laughed and then we smoked and he did the snoopdance. ) Turns out the intern ended up getting fired approximately 12 times that night by 5 different people. We never heard from him again.

This past week, we had another new intern start. He had been here 1 day. The next night, he shows up to an event at a club with a crew of 5. Wasted. He was still let in, cuz tech he wasnt working. Runs straight to the press table and attempted to take the last bottle they had. He was dismissed and told to leave. Next thing my coworkers see, is this kid flailing on stage next to Lydia. This kid deserves a raise!

Lookalike?

Forgive my ignorant self but BEFORE Keeping Up with the K's and I had NO idea who they were, I may have confused these two up. I could see how they don't really look that much alike now that I am a bit more familiar with them, but come on. They definatly look more alike then say me compared to one of them!

Left is Kim Kardashian and Right is Nicole Scherzinger.

Arrested Development

I have joined the crowds who are bitter/saddened about this amazing show being taken off the air. Summer is a bit slow with television (understandably so), minus new Interventions, but thanks to hulu.com, I have watched all the episodes. One thing that comes to mind, I love Michael Cera more then ever. He's been dating Charlyne Yi, the stoner from Knocked Up and a women much older then he, for like, ever. But whatever. Im super envious of the groups of comedians who travel in packs, for example, the older SNL group, the Stiller/Vaughn/Ferrel etc. group, the Sandler/Schneider/Grandma's Boy kids, and finally, the Judd Apatow posse in which Cera seems to intertwine in with my faves like Paul Rudd (who is also in the Michael Showalter, Michael Ian Black crew). Its gotta be such a trip having a group of friends to just joke around with and make movies. Not so famous is Ceras best friend Clark who also does this site: http://www.clarkandmichael.com/. Michael Cera is definitely on my list of people I'd like to chill with. Even if Char's still around. I just wanna be friends, I promise. I am super excited to see his new movie, Nick and Norah's Playlist.

Next up for hulu and me: Always Sunny.

Worst Friend Award Goes To: Me

Not the first time for this to happen. I put in friends birthday party plans into a calendar, but then forget to also put in their actual birthdays. Completely forgetting that it is not possible for everyone I know celebrating a birthday for it to fall on a Saturday. Today, I did it again. I complained to Brianna the second we woke up because our landlord is a whore. (She called me at 7:15, 45 minutes before I get up, to ask me to close the windows because she drove by this morning and saw they were opened and thought it would rain today and doesnt want to replace walls because the rain will seep into them. Thanks mom.) She left without saying much. The entire day goes by and im having a conversation via IM with Brie like any other day. Rachel asked if I wanted to get drinks with her and Brie later. I declined due to plans with an old coworker. She was a bit dismissive after and around 5pm when I checked facebook, I knew why. I completely forgot it was Brie's actual birthday today. Woopsie! I cancelled plans so I could go to Mojave with them a little later. The last time I did this was with Dawn and it was the same exact situation. Rachel nonchalantly invited me to dinner after work and I passed. After a while, Rachel was like, are you just being really bitchy or did you forget it was her birthday? Sorry guys. I am a terrible friend. My bad.

Happy birthday Brie!!!

Office Quotes Chapter 3

Yendys leaving a message, “Hi George, I know you're in town and wanted to try to come see you..."
FYI - George as in Boy George

Yendys, “How long does it take to get to the salon?”
“Which salon?”
“I dunno, any salon.”
“Ummm?”

Asilam, "I threw up on the Lux Liner!"

Lunch delivery was called at 12:20 and it came at 2:11. The first time they were called to check up, they said it was cold but they were still sending it. When he finally showed up, he fell into the door and laughed and said he broke his head. Nairb asked if he had any idea and he replied, "NO ID".

Accounting – "If anyone asks, just say he who shall not be named asked you to do this."

The picnic list:
Jameson
Meat
Smores
Pop rocks
Cheeseburgers

Yendys, "You know whos a really fat cokehead?"

Do you ever feel like the less money you have, the more you want to spend it? I want these ASAP...

Idears

I remember seeing a website somewhere where this guy comes up with ideas but does not have the time or resources to execute his plans. But he posts them anyway, and perhaps if someone chooses to work with it, he gets credit and some of the profit. I think thats a brilliant idea. I have some ideas of my own that this could apply for.

Idea: Post Break Up Living Situation Site (I'll work on that title)
Background: Lately I have known a couple people in this situation. You move in with the boyfriend/girlfriend and then the break up occurs. Yes, much like the movie, and you are stuck. Who stays? Who goes? The people that I have met have tried sticking it out a couple weeks but none have lasted. Once that decision is made, how do you even go about finding a place and or a roommate? Maybe on Craigslist there should be a section for this. OR (drumrole) there should be a site specifically catered to this situation! Any thoughts?

UPDATE: If something like www.stdmatch.com can exist, then WHY not do the above?

RIP Wasab

My fish died. I knew he was sick for the past 2 days but what can you do? He was finally laying on the bottom of his tank this morning. :(

Wasab was a beta, and he wasnt my first beta. I also had one freshman year. I decided that I was going to train him to be a true warrior. I did my research and began training. Within weeks that fish was ready to fight. I wanted to make money and thought instead of cock fights, I could have fish fights. Then I realized that was cruel (even though I know my fish had no worries) so I cancelled that plan.

That summer I moved to New Mexico and couldn't take him with me. My dad was going to watch him for me until I got back. Fast forward a month and I was at a wine festival when I got the call. Dad had thought the fish needed more sunlight then the slits at the top of the tank were giving it. So he left the top open, and just as they warned, he had jumped out when my dad went to work and dried up on the kitchen floor. Thanks dad!

So in conclusion, RIP fishies.

Pineapple Express

Thumbs Up, totally.

Best part of the movie actually happened before hand. We were in Walgreen's buying contraband for the show and this women in her 30s was roaming around in front of the line really confused. She finally realized we were in line and roams to the back of it. Then her friend walks over to us and shouts "Are you guys high too?!"

Mouths open in embarrassment. If I was high, I'd be bugging out at this point. But I wasn't. So I just giggled it off. Then the stoner lady comes back up to me and shes like, "Oh are you going to the movies?" I said yes. Then she was like, "Are you seeing Pineapple Express toooo???" I replied, "Yup." Then we left and when we got there, she flashed us a peace sign from her seat. Oh stoners.

Fireworks

The other day I went to Coney Island for the first time in a long time. They have a pretty decent fireworks show that runs til Labor Day Weekend. Check it out if you want something a little different to do on a Friday night.

Sotally Tober

Gawker posted a couple of pics of the prez acting all drunk. The flag one in particular made me laugh out loud.

Spotted on 45th - MetLife Building

I watched Top Chef Season 2 for one reason, and his name was Sam. Sam's been pretty busy and successful now with his whole Surf Lodge thing in Montauk and getting engaged; not to me. Its ok though, not the first time my heart has been broken.

We were talking about him at work because he is guest cheffing at a place we work with. It was a very Sam filled day. Then, I left work early to go meet my mom and go to The Police concert at Jones Beach and who walks out of the Met Life building but...Sam!!! I kinda squeezed my boyfriend's arm and my jaw dropped and I was clearly excited about something and at the same time I was like, hmmm how do I explain this one to my boyfriend? Whatever if he saw like, Scarlett Johansson and smiled a bit, i'd understand. So that was a nice little spotting.

The concert was good. Their second to last show. Ever. Im not a huge fan but my mom is and its been her dream to see them so I got her tickets for mothers day. I dont know how I will top that for her birthday in 2 weeks now! I knew more songs then I thought, and I had no idea Sting played the bass, which is pretty hot. Had a real nice time with my momma. She's so cool.

Summer Reading

Adding another book to the bookshelf; Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs: A Low Culture Manifesto. I liked. It was a good subway read. Nothing too heavy. Smart guy. I wonder if his thoughts/stories would change at all now that some time has passed, or if he has continued writing essays dealing with crap like Project Runway or revivals of the 80's fashions or all these new movies like 40 Year Old Virgin, Pineapple Express/Knocked Up?

Office Quotes Chapter 1

Quotes from Yendys

8/6/08 10AM - "Peter Gachins girlfriend once said to me when it was New Years and I was sick in his office high on ecstasy, that I wouldn’t be sick all the time if I wore more clothes..."

From the past:

In reference to a person that is not her client nor does she ever communicate with this person nor was anyone discussing her at the moment: "Yea, she's really getting on my tits."

On the phone to who knows to various people:
"My mom's kidney failed and shriveled up and now her leg needs to be amputated. She's in the hospital so I have no money."

"I was afraid she would yell at me for wearing my Daisy Dukes."

Someone asked something about ovarian cancer:
"God didnt give me ovaries."

One from Eiram:
Take El Barrio car service everywhere - 212-722-5588 - it's luxury
ghetto style. Sometimes you get picked up in a town car sometimes you get
picked up in an escalade...

Goblin to a tv producer doing a show on naked yoga, in reference to me who was fully clothed at the time:
"She is the naked publicist! You could film her! Quick, get naked, you're the naked publicist! There's a story!"

2nd Monday of the 12 Day Work Week

Hamptons was a shit show, no suprise. Not only do you have to prepare for survival of the fittest staying wise, but add work problems on top of that and its safe to say I am not suprised I still have a migrane.

Ariel let me stay in her home, which was so nice! I was mature and sent my first thank you basket. I'm a big girl now. :) Anyway, took the luxury liner and got out in the worst possible time, when the rain and lightening was the worst. Lightening actually struck the parking lot across the street from us as we were standing there. We finally got to the house. Dried off and relaxed til work. Got so lost we had beg a cab to lead us to the house because patience after an hour in the backroads of Watermill in a topless jeep in the cold damp weather, was not high. Minus the photographer being a half hour late and the goblin making things worse on the phone, the bottom line is we got everything done. Check ya photos here. I made my spokesmodel debut, page 7. Next time, I should get paid. Grrr. Then we went to our afterparty. A picture is worth a thousand words...

The next morning I relaxed by the pool until job #2. I heart guestlists and we saw a dead guy on the way back. And thats all I have to say about that.

The limo ride home was eventful. Wine and roadtrips do not always equal calm but definitely equal laughs. Thanks again Ariel!

UPDATE: This photo ran with my credit in the Daily News - Rush & Molloy on the August 11th!

Think About This

I just read this article on NYMags site and it reminded me of another story I read like this, in Eat Pray Love as well. The circumstances really bother and disturb me. There was a poem along with the article and trusty wikipedia provided me with some history as well as another version I knew I had seen before. I pasted it below.

I like this poem:

It Could Always Be Worse

Gawker introduced me to this site this morning, Courthouse Confessions. Two of my favorites, here and here.

I just have to say, Judy Guadalupe Schiller Perez Aversa, you have my vote!

My Future Daughter

Sarah at Missbehave has found my future daughter. As well as a link to another entertaining blog who I guess technically found her. Woohoo!

Creepy Coincidence

Carla sent me a link to a youtube video this morning and I didnt get around to looking at it til just now. I thought it was cool so I sent it to my coworker in the other room. This video could not be more random. My coworkers response was, "They literally just called the office. A writer referred them to the office for something." SO RANDOM.

Hey Beautiful!

This whole Montauk "Monster"story is really getting out of hand. I can't wait to get some answers though. It also really got me thinking. Remember when this kid killed the 1,000 pound boar? I can't imagine what it must be like to be walking in the woods and seeing one of these things! I'd pee.

12 Day Work Week

Long story short, I have to go to the Hamptons for work again this weekend. One of my jobs is to escort an escort. No joke and for no money. I am mad.

Lunch Bandit

The other night I ordered Dominos. I didn't get to eat my Cinnastix so I brought them to work. In the box, wrapped in a shopping bag. Like, it takes effort to get into them. I went to eat them for lunch the next day and it was already half eaten! Last time, I had left turkey in the package so I could just make a sandwich here, and the turkey was gone. Again, not just a simple cookie missing. So I sent this email out, which still has yet to be responded to...

Hi group,

Today was the fifth time that I have gone into the fridge and my food has been tampered with. This time it wasn’t completely gone like other times but it was still contaminated enough that I didn’t feel like I could eat it. The fact that my lunch is packed up in bags and people still feel that they have the right to go through it and help themselves disturbs me. Not to mention the fact that I do not have enough money to make my lunch, bring it, see its missing, and then buy a second lunch. PLEASE STOP EATING MY FOOD.

Thanks.
Becca

UPDATE: Jasmin the housekeeper has confirmed that it was indeed the bossman.
