Memorial Weekend
I am a bit burnt out at the moment so this post wont be what it should but I wanna get some blogging out of my system. It's therapeutic for me.
This past weekend was in Cleveland with David. He planned a good one! We were pretty much always doing something. Straight from the airport we went downtown to watch the Cavs game. We went to a bar right across from the Q which was really fun when Lebron made the at the buzzer, historical shot and everyone came running out and into the streets celebrating. I was so happy to be in that city at that moment.
The rest of the weekend we went to the driving range, he met my best friend Lucy and fiance Eric and I met his (both which are getting married in the same hotel in Cincinnati later this year just by coincidence), took a nice 5 mile walk in the valley metro park, finally saw Slumdog (thumbs up) and also Angels & Demons (thumbs up), layed by the pool, had dinner with the fam, had a delicious breakfast of Reeses pancakes, had my favorite meal at Taza, and got to spend some quality time together.
Not to be all corny but I love seeing him and being by him. I am definitely freaking out about what to do now with my life but I am doing what I can at the moment. I was really sad to leave this morning. It gets harder every time. I don't want to live this far from him. But such is life at the moment. Doing a lot of thinking now. Lots to do.

Still A Mystery
Before I stupidly deleted the entire entry, I was just pondering. How weird it is that I never got my wallet back during Fashion Week. I just got the change purse from my family for a late Chanukah present. Small little black Marc Jacobs things like from the outlet store or something. I didn't even have money in it. I had a ton of business cards, my drivers license and my debit card. I find it incredible that it was never returned.
dammmmit
I just spent 20 minutes typing away on the blackberry for a post and one wrong move and its gone. Ugh. Um in the meantime, since I don't have time to go back and retype all of it now, what do u do on a bus when the person next to u keeps falling asleep on ur shoulder?

Make this a movie
OK maybe a couple more before I go... Like this news story on CNN.com today. I feel like this should be made into a movie. Moonshining, grandpas, Mexican weed, jail, betrayal. It has all the elements. http://www.cnn.com/2009/CRIME/05/21/drugs.rural.america/index.html

Lost Finale Live Blog Hour 2
10:03 "Well it's a wonderful foot Richard, but what does it have to do with Jacob?" - Locke being his usual dick self
10:05 aw remember, count to 5?!
10:06 So I am wondering, did they know Jacob would be at every event and have him there for the original tapings? Or did they have to recreate the scenes with him there?
10:09 Whoa that was major if Sawyer was thinking of stopping his parents murder
10:10 Jack, if its meant to be then why are you trying to change it?
10:11 Kick to the nutz.
10:12 Juliette is schizo
10:17 "Leading The Great Sub Escape!"
10:18 Prediction, Stewart dies.
10:26 Hugo sharing food?
10:30 Que the intense music, jeez
10:32 Here we go with Richard feeling rocks again
10:33 It would be hysterical if Jacob was chillin in a hot tub with Playmates or something under the foot.
10:39 Love how Jacks just running around with a bomb in his backpack.
10:40 "WHOS THIS?!" - Best line to scream when you are being shot at
10:41 Sawyer tells Jack to do his business. He isn't taking a crap dude.
10:43 Was wondering what the smart ass comment would be when it didn't go off. "This don't look like LAX."
10:45 Juliette cant be taken down by a chain!
10:51 What lies in the shadow of the statue...I dont speak that language you jerk!
10:52 Is Jacob a shapeshifter? Is Locke in the temple actually Jacob?
10:53 It's 10:53 and I am gathering way more questions. DAMMIT!
10:55 5 minutes left and I already know im disappointed
10:56 Ben = me, me, me, whine, whine, whine
10:57 Was it really that easy to kill Jacob?
10:59 White out.
2010 The Final Season. We shall wait.

Diagnosis
I am diagnosing myself with dyslexia of the wallet. When I have an income, I rarely spend a penny. When I have no income, I spend it like it's there. I am messed up.
Outliers Brings It Full Circle
I finished reading Malcolm Gladwell's Outliers. I had wanted to read this because I had read his other books and liked them. I can actually understand what he is saying. I also recently read a book that I found to be related, The Spontaneous Fulfillment of Desire by Deepak Chopra and I really don't feel like writing a book report here, but I do want to get some thoughts out in the open. Hell that's why I started this thing anyway. To get it off my chest. So here goes!
Being successful in all aspects of life, being satisfied, happy, etc. is something I am trying harder to focus on and achieve. Although I enjoyed and learned a lot in the book about coincidences, it felt like there was a piece missing. Enter Outliers.
It brought that piece in to help me understand and get it. The two books compliment each other well. "Outliers are those who have been given opportunities - and who have had the strength and presence of mind to seize them" explains Gladwell. The entire time I read Chopra I was thinking, OK the opportunities are there, and this is the book about how to harness them. The whole time I was reading Outliers, I was thinking, OK so here is how those coincidences occur to a degree. They go hand in hand.
My recommendation would be to read Outliers first and then Coincidences. Outliers explain how these opportunities get set up, mathematically/scientifically. Then Coincidences is on the more spiritual side, and helps you realize how to recognize these opportunities and make the best of them. Someone like me, who is skeptical, needs explanations like Outliers to help understand better. Maybe later on I will re approach this topic but for now, that's all I got.

Like Mike
I was watching the Cavs win and Lebron dominate again and I had this flashback of a movie. Some orphan and shoes and Michael Jordan. I love how the internet can answer your mind gaps in 2.5 seconds. I was remembering this movie I watched when I was babysitting. Like Mike with Lil Bow Wow and little Jonathan Lipnicki. Now the question is, what can rhyme with Lebron, because it's only a matter of time before a movie like this comes out about him. Hey producers, make a sequel with someone finding Lebron's old Jersey. 10% for me, and it's a deal. I'll start writing the script now.

Brands I Like
did a little shopping today and I really like two brands in particular, Lucky Brand and Free People. Lucky has great bags and jewelry but their website kinda sucks. On the opposite side of sucking would be Free People's website. Check it out as well as their blog. http://blog.freepeople.com/

Interviews
I went on one today, for a job I would LOVE to get. Keeping my fingers crossed and thinking positive. But isn't word vomit the worst? I am so bad at it. It just sucks waiting to hear back. It would mean the world to me so its hard to just sit back and wait. Ahhhh

I heart hippies
I consider myself a designer hippie. Mentally, I'm free spirited, all lovey, can't we all just get along, for the most part anyway. But I also like the finer things in life, like showers, Diane von Furstenberg and Jimmy Choos (that I don't own, yet). I enjoy reading about hippies and the past though so when I was in the store the other day looking for a book, but nothing in particular, this cover caught my eye in the new releases.
Apparently there was this movement of sorts, across the seas called The Hippie Trail. It goes all over Africa, Middle East, East Asia, India...Some came back, others did not. It left a mark regardless. This is a retracing of the steps of this trail and seeing how it changed things over there and even includes some stragglers stories, which I couldn't help but think were somehow perhaps exaggerated just like any retelling of any story, without adding drugs to the mixture of memory. Either way, it kept my attention.
Free Haircut
A while back, I signed up for a free haircut. It was from Bumble and bumble. They run classes and you can go in for a model call and then they schedule you to be a students model. People are hesitant but for a long layered razor cut, I wasn't too worried. Students are not necessarily first time cutters either. The women I had was working in a salon in St. Louis for 23 years already. It was a good experience for me and came out great. I keep getting compliments on it and its already been about a month. Great way to cut back on money. Go sign up ladies!

Lil Havaianas
I was in Ricky's looking for fun bachelorette things (kinda disappointing)and on the way out I spotted the CUTEST little sandals. I dont know why I have this thing for tiny things, especially baby shoes. These were adorable, but pricey in the store. FYI, they are much better priced online.

See The World
Please check out my good friend Jasper and his band.
More info on their Myspace page.
"See The World is in its infancy, and we're experimenting with possible directions we can take musically. But overall, the message will stay the same. We should live our lives according to the passions we dream about--the things we would do if we could do anything, the things we are gifted in, and the things that make us want to wake up in the morning (or in the middle of the night)." - Jasper

NOT news
This is absurdddddddd. It actually enrages me that how to wash your hands properly is apparently newsworthy. I am hearing that there are signs in workplace restrooms with instructions. WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE!!!????!!!
What about the Dutch Parade? (picture is tough to look at)
Or the fact that people are going mad overseas?
The Taliban is growing?
