Been a fan of Malcolm Gladwell so it was a no brainer to pick up his most recent book, "What The Dog Saw".
What's different this time is that this is a collection from previous works Gladwell has written, nineteen in total. I enjoyed almost all of them, some much more than others. My favorite was "Something Borrowed", about plagiarism.
This one got my attention the most because I have always wondered exactly what he talks about. It's hard to explain but basically, that plagiarism is inevitable. Of coarse there are blatant copies, but that is not what we are talking about. At this point in the world, it is bound to be that somehow somewhere at another point, someone wrote something extremely similar to what you have wrote, whether you know it or not. So if someone happens to catch this actual coincidence, should you really be labeled a cheat, crook, unoriginal, whatever?
Gladwell goes through countless examples of this, particularly in the music industry. Background beats like Led Zepplin and Muddy Water's. Steve Miller Band and Shaggy. But then he goes into another argument his friend made. Could it just be considered influences? If every beat was copyrighted and never allowed to be used and warped again, then many songs would have never been created.
Back to the case of actual writing, I just recently did a blog entry about how some girl totally jacked my idea about gym grifting. I have no evidence whatsoever proving this was my idea first. So she gets credit for it and I have to suck it up. But what if I had wrote something about it and could prove it was MY idea? Could I accuse her of plagiarism? No not really in my opinion.
People will naturally come up with similar ideas, it's just bound to happen. Unless shes using specific phrases of mine, I cant really say she stole anything. Even if she did though, 1. I'd be kinda flattered for something stupid like that but if it was something I put years of research into I'd be pissed. 2. In the case of being in college, is it really fair for her to fail out because of it (in the case of the less intense example)?
There are these new crazy programs that literally scan words and phrases and its hooked up to a database that matches it up with like, everything ever written, making it that much more impossible for students to get away with plagiarizing. Whoa.
So this is just one of the few stories that really get things going up there in that noggin. Pretty good for readers with ADD too because you want to finish the story and it's only a couple pages.

A Sparkling Event
My friend Melissa works in the Sparkle Factory aka with Tarina Tarantino, a jewelry designer who rocks. Her latest endeavor for the company: makeup.
They just launched a line for Sephora and one of my event planning idol's, Jes Gordon/ProperFun, was tapped by coincidence by Melissa to coordinate the event. Jes is author of the book, Party Like A Rock Star.
BizBash did a great write up on Wednesday's party HERE.
The concept was adorable with so many details. I love the vanities they set up along the walls to display the new products.
What was cool was Melissa contacted me in the midst of all this busyness to say she noticed I was a fan of Jes's and told me Jes was one of the coolest people she had worked with and would send me her book. I then noticed some twitter shoutouts from her as well. I am grateful to Melissa for doing that. I don't think she realized how inspiring Jes was to me as a wannabe event planner when I was graduating. These are the kinds of events and things that make me want to move to LA and be Melissa's assistant (which is not an available position, fyi).
Keep up with The Sparkle Factory here: thesparklefactory.blogspot.com

Trend Alert: Your Own PR Firm
The PR world is smaller then people think. The big names are known and the companies gossip like it's a high school.
In latest news:
My OSU classmate Sara Ferne, who is the assistant to Matt Labov (clients include Jack Black, Steve Carell, Sacha Baron Cohen, Will Ferrell, Jonah Hill, Seth Rogen, Judd Apatow, Jay Roach, and Jason Schwartzman among others) at BWR, a hugh Hollywoody firm, announced on her twitter last Friday that she is following Matt on his venture into his own company. "i can officially say: my boss, Matt Labov is opening his own publicity management firm and has hired me on as his first employee! :-D 12:33 PM Feb 23rd "
Deadline Hollywood reported the next day. I'm very excited for her. Pretty amazing opportunity for someone who graduated only 2 years ago. And yes, I am jealous! But its all love.
Also talks of Madonna's publicist, Liz Rosenberg, is leaving her home at Warner Music Group to start her own shop.
Oh and then there's this ball of fire (from thewrap.com in Dec.):

Immediately after PMK/HBH announced its merger with BNC in December, a significant group of top publicists -- co-CEO Simon Halls, Stephen Huvane, Robin Baum and Andy Gelb -- chose to split, founding Slate PR with fellow PR vet Ina Treciokas.
Editors Note: A previous version of this story incorrectly identified Jennifer Allen as having joined Slate PR. She left PMK along with her colleagues, but started her own shop, Viewpoint, along with former colleague Melissa Kates.

I Should Have Been The "Gym Grifter"
Another one bites the dust. I had this idea, when I first moved to Manhattan. I really wanted to join a gym and thought to myself, "I should just go gym hopping. Free trials should get me through. There are enough gyms that I could probably keep it going for a while. Plus my single friends would love sampling out the guys at each." But then, laziness got the best of me, and I never stepped foot in a Manhattan gym for the entire year. Bitch even started a blog! (bunsofsteal.blogspot.com.)
Today, there's some coverage I am seeing on a young women who apparently had the same idea as me and went through with it. DARNIT! She's been dubbed the "Gym Grifter" by the Daily News.
"Most people aren't cheap enough to do this for a whole year," she said. "But I am."
But then, thinking from an entrepreneur's standpoint, I started realizing something and what I read next was a comment from a front desker at a gym and my exact thought: "Checking out two or three gyms I understand, but to do it for a year is just ripping people off," he said.
I wish I wasn't so lazy. Personally, I would have started the blog AFTER the project, in the event of exactly what happened to her (the news blowing her cover). Wonder how long the free passes will last for her now?

PR Ponderings
You need to get in touch with a writer. Say you happen to follow them on twitter. Or are facebook friends. I get that it is one thing if you are actually friends and hit them up because you have that relationship and you know that they will respond to this form of contact as opposed to the general email. For whatever reason you don't want to pick up the phone, or they aren't answering. Is it appropriate to contact them on these other forms of internet?
For example, Jada Yuan of Party Lines in NYMag. I email her all the time. Is it OK if I also add an umph of "Hey @jadayuan, sent you an email!" on the twitter? I've seen it done from one peer to another but they are friends with each other. For example Jason Kennedy and Lizzie Grubman. Lizzie was asking about Fatjew and Jason wrote, "check your email Lizzie!". I don't know their relationship but an alternative way of communicating was available and he used it.
I don't think I would ever send a pitch on facebook to a writer but it's just something I was thinking about. I have facebooked a couple writers in my day, after a couple email correlations with them in the past. So now if I lost their email, would it be bad to write them on facebook and ask them for their email because I have a pitch I want to send them?
The reason I really ask I guess is because for many people, these are their personal sites. Just like we discuss how twitter and facebook for me is NOT my resume, but can be seen by others and if its ethical to judge me based on it for a job. If this is their personal site, do they want to deal with work? Is it inevitable to crossover? How do writers feel about this? And while I'm on the subject, are writers ever weary of publicists befriending them? Any writers have anything to say about this?

Valentino's Pugs
I plan on watching the Valentino movie, The Last Emperor eventually but in the meantime, I'm on a kick about his pugs. He has five, Milton, Molly, Margot, Maude and Monty. Observe.

Shaq says Size DOES Matter
I love NYC. I love Art. I love Shaq. I love Free. I love Things That Are Our Of Proportion.
If I lived in NYC, I would go see Shaq's new venture into the art world as curator to "Size DOES Matter". You can see the exhibit at the FLAG Art Foundation in Chelsea.

Kell On Earth Ep. 4 - Live Blog
I usually write this write up in a different format as you can see in previous episodes but this live blog just came more naturally today. Ladies and gents, my thoughts on this week's episode of Kell On Earth.
The most common phrase used on this show is "One of our favorite clients".
Wait, all of a sudden Vorhees has an assistant in this show?! Also, I totally love how she just got bitched out because she looks happy and healthy and is well dressed. The boss should be and the workers should be disheveled and tired according to Kelly. This is possibly one of the greatest things I have ever heard.
Ah the book name drop finally. I wouldn't think Kelly was a good publicist unless she publicized her own stuff! I ain't givin her shit for this one, in fact I'm high fiving it. I just finished the book and it is a good one! (review to come)
Really, being a writer has its perks. You get invited to events, know the scoop, get to meet so many different types of people. I see why some people make the transition. I honestly don't think most writers become writers for perks either which is what I think is genuine about it. You can't fake good writing, unless you hire a ghost writer.
PR Rule: Never drink on the job. But if you absolutely have to, hold your shit together! Favorite memory of mine in my pr life: club opening and we each took turns firing the brand new drunk intern. THAT was a fun night!
Quote award for this episode goes to: Andrew
"Sharing misery brings people together."
"I hate these boxes of plastic that we rely on."
Kelly shows a sensitive side frowning and saying I don't want to fire her. I like vulnerability. It shows the human side of her.
"I wasn't going to do it. Cuz I was going to a Jonas Brothers concert!" - Kelly on firing.
I guess that makes us "superman on amphetamines" Vorhees! But wait, did she just ask to be fired?! I am glad she is gone, I can't listen to her without getting angry. She just isn't one of us.
It's sad that I make sure the DVR doesn't skip a beat because I like seeing the city shots. Dam I miss NYC.
Kelly and I pack the same! Just throw in things and wing it. I always get made fun of but you know what, I'm the one who isn't freaking out about outfits and you are so shut up!
Aw really sweet how Kelly says that it gets harder and harder to leave your kid as they get older.
Summer Friday's - Many pr places do this in the summer. It's our little secret, shhh. Friday you are out at either 2 or 4. Its great. Don't ever expect it but its a total nice perk for us every now and then. Granted half the time it's because you are schelping to get to the Hampton Jitney only to go work more on the weekends.
This scene of them being left alone is hysterical. The conference call and them leaving early is also just reminding me of some of my favorite times at my first pr job. Ah there were some fun afternoons at Paris Match. @chrisonchris @reneevlucas @erinlryder @lau525 I miss us.
Just another typicalness. When people think they don't apply to world rules. Like sending in your RSVPs a day before. They never show the end result though. What happened? Did he make a miracle like we tend to do and make it happen? I bet he did.
"Kelly says if you have to cry go outside. So go re-apply your bronzer and pull yourself together and come back in." - Skinner to a man
I dont get how Skinner's only a Jr. Account Exec. I love her more and more. Sex and the City dreams. "Slowly but surely I'm making my way to that booth. "
Why are they interviewing people with no pr experience?
The most important/relevant part of this episode:
I'M DYING from this twitter account thing. Rules of fight club, never talk about fight club. I wonder what her twitter will say now? Haha apparently so does Andrew. This is possibly extremely entertaining to me for three reasons. 1. I was involved in a conversation on PRBreakfastClub today about this very situation. Go check it out here! 2. They claim you cant share/twitter/blog whatever and as a career I want to continue in the future, I seriously question this blog entry all together. Kinda ironic. 3. PeoplesRev is on twitter! The entire staff is. But I do understand where and why its OK and not OK in this situation. If you don't, try reading some PRBC entries. Very interesting and relevant stuff people!
UPDATE:
Holy crap Kelly Cutrone herself just freakin tweeted me!
@BeccaMeyers yeah it's relevant #kellonearth is the new social media rules teacher - the housewives are not on twitter - duh

SPINdustry
After watching what was possibly the calmest birth ever (what drugs were you on Kourtney? bc that is what I want when the time comes.) on Keeping Up With The Kardashians, SPINdustry aired on E! tonight. It's star is Command PR with Jonathan Cheban and uber hilarious Simon Huck, executive produced by Kim Kardashian.
Another show about my career, Entertainment PR! I love how when I move out of NYC and basically give up on the dream, these two shows (Kell On Earth being the other) pop up just to constantly remind me that I miss it so much and want to work again more than anything. I decided I'm on hiatus til I get back to NYC, not redirecting my life as previously planned.
Jonathan and Lizzie Grubman used to work together. Lizzie originally had the MTV show PoweRgirls. I wonder if he asked her for advice on having a show. How it affected business? If it was worth it?
As I sit here reading tweets from fellow publicists watching the show, I can't help but laugh. These are not entertainment pr people. These are the corporate pr people. The people I thought I wanted to work for after moving. (Granted a job is a job in Cleveland, Ohio but still...) They can't believe places conduct themselves the way they do. Well there is definitely a certain type of person that it takes to work in this unique and niche area and you clearly are not one of them. But let me tell ya, you are missing out on some crazy fun stuff! You really learn to get through things when you don't have an IT guy to call because simultaneously the internet, cable and lights go out and you have a meeting in one hour and the printer will not print the color red, let alone turn on.
At the same time, this opening scene is frustrating as hell and I am sure there will be more and more like it. The typical, "I told you no mustard!" scene. Scenes that make me cringe and question what these people are thinking hiring them/keeping them on staff. I just wonder why it's so hard for me to find a job when I see what is getting hired. I am willing to work my ass off for you, get you results, and for minimal pay no less! Why don't you want me? After seeing scenes like this, I really consider dumbing myself down, making more mistakes, and perhaps taking off some experience from my resume and perhaps THEN they will want me!?!
Which brings me to my second point of personalities. There are two types of entertainment pr girls. The ones who are chill and supportive and amazing. They are the coolest people you will meet, make you feel like you can run the world. They empower you. They are smart and strong willed and get things done. They don't deal with bullshit.
The second type of pr girl is the one I can't stand, and clearly this crew is filled with them. The backstabbing, jealous, can't let things roll off their backs type who will complain and fight and eye roll til there's no tomorrow. Haters. They tend to be very unproductive and inefficient for the bottom line, yet they seem unavoidable. They can't focus on the task at hand because they are so caught up in drama. Catty catty catty, meow.
For those interested in the SPINdustry, a couple things you learn from this episode:
"You're coming as entourage and I don't want you to even breathe." Definitely means DON'T SPEAK.
"You're here to carry the lollipops." - Jonathan in a sad but true fact about interns and beginners. The smallest wrong comment can send clients packing. Until you are "approved", don't even think about saying a word. It's all about the almighty word in this world.
"An event is only as successful as the press you get from it." - Simon. The only thing is that editing must have cut out the actual pr work (understandable because no one wants to see that!) Those pictures and mentions don't organically show up there as Simon says. There was A LOT of begging and hard work to get them there! Something outsiders don't realize. Once you actually work like this, you never look at a magazine, paper or really anything the same again. Funny looking through the weeklies from a publicist's point of view.
Now the only questions I have left for this particular episode is, how much Sugar Factory sales will go up now?
With laugh out loud moments like Simon windexing cupcakes to avoid eating them, hilarious arguments on who gets to say "thank you", and office drama no doubt to continue, I certainly look forward to more from SPINdustry!
UPDATE: I wanted to add something to this. WHY I love entertainment PR. IT'S FUN! Yea there is business involved, deadlines, egos...but let's be honest, this isn't brain surgery. We aren't solving the world's problems here and there is pressure but it isn't the kind of pressure that the world is truly effected by. Some entertainment publicists may argue it is important and all but really, its ENTERTAINMENT. THAT is why I love the industry, or SPINdustry if you will.

FINALLY someone mentioned PRESS! "The main focus is to get press there." -Emily
"If you're not up to the job, just say I'm getting paid x amount of dollars and I think I should give you some of your money back because I dont know what I'm doing." - Kelly
THOUGHTS
- Syl Tang is one of the 120 most importat writers?! Not in my book.
- New York is the smallest city ever! They seriously found their dog they gave away on the street. WTF!
- Note: $60 - $80k for a normal fashion show
- What a publicist notices when watching a show like this: This is the second time in 3 episodes (and 1 week in real time) that they are doing a presentation at the same venue.
- It's interesting to hear the boss's side of things when she is talkig to her sister. I always wonder what they say and I really like this personal side of Emily. I and pretty much any other publicist can sympathize with the personal/work time dilemmas.
- I love the clearly edited scene about 3/4 a way through when they only show like a 2 minute clip of something random before another commercial and it was just of gum chewing. Also, what was that pancho man thing?
- Pro to being a boss: you dont miss a kids moment because no one can tell you no. PS Ava's 2nd grade pose in front of the bench at Ralph Lauren...totally my lunch break bench!
- and finally...

New York Fashion Week
This week has been tough for me, not being involved in fashion week for the first time in 3 years. I didnt realize how passionate I was about it until I wasnt involved. Even at the restaurant, I was pitching for pre-dinners.
I have been keeping up closely with everything online, overwhelming as it is. There is just so much! Just like NYFW itself. It's not just a fashion show, but the models in it, the people attending, the after parties and the coverage. Personally I am liking NYMag's coverage and as usual Fug Girls crack me up.
The week started off sadly with the death of McQueen. But it seemed like everyone was still looking forward to the Red Dress Event. For Heart Truth, the show has a purpose other than fashion. "This spectacular event reminds women of the need to protect their heart health and inspires them to take action. For the second year in a row, a selection of the designer dresses seen on the runway will be auctioned online in February through a partnership with Clothes Off Our Back. To bid on these Red Dresses this February, visit www.clothesoffourback.org." (http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov//educational/hearttruth/) According to the tweets, Kim Kardashian was a fave, with Reggie onlooking from the front row, as was Felicity Huffman and William H. Macy.
Charlotte Ronson's show seems to get more and more popular with the celebs. Jordan Catalano and Matt Dillion attending...impressive.
Perhaps its more eye popping in person but Christian Siriano's line didn't amaze me this time around. But I will give him props for once again using a diverse model selection.
Just in general, I am seeing a lot of sloppy layering and messy outfits. Not that they aren't made well, it's just odd to be couture. Like this for example from Jason Wu...
He had some great stuff too but this was a major "?" in my book.
My favorite NYFW pasttime, model fall watch. The first one was a big one this year. Not once, but twice, the beloved Agyness Deyn. Couldn't have asked for anything better than that!
Looking forward to seeing more fashion and falls.

Rest In Peace Alexander McQueen
March 16, 1969 – February 11, 2010
The fashion world was rocked today, ironically on the first day of New York Fashion Week, to wake up to the news of one of their designers, Lee McQueen aka Alexander McQueen, had committed suicide. The man was known to be in a dark place and under immense pressure, and many of the creative and genius are. Most recently his mother passed and he apparently was not taking it well. I am sure details will come to the surface. It is so sad to hear how someone could be in so much pain they can't take life anymore. He was an amazingly talented, wacky, beloved and inspiring person and his clients and friends, have nothing but incredible words and memories to say.
E! Online complied a nice photo list of previous people he has dressed, here.
Throughout the day, New Yorkers have been stopping by his storefront to pay their respects.
Statement from Alexandermcqueen.com
-
On behalf of Lee McQueen's family, Alexander McQueen today announces the tragic news that Lee McQueen, the founder and designer of the Alexander McQueen brand has been found dead at his home. At this stage it is inappropriate to comment on this tragic news beyond saying that we are devastated and are sharing a sense of shock and grief with Lee's family.
Lee's family has asked for privacy in order to come to terms with this terrible news and we hope the media will respect this.

Inspiration: Alice In Wonderland
This remake is set to hit theaters March 5, 2010. Some really cool products have emerged from it already.
Shoes from Nicholas Kirkwood.
Makeup from Urban Decay.
Tom Binns Jewelry
And surely to come, clothing as well. Disney already has a line.
cakes the size of cups
On another note, cupcakes. Personally I am not a fan of eating cake, except confetti cake. But cupcakes, those I can handle. One of my favorites is the mini Crumbs vanilla with strawberry icing. Also on the event planning side of things, planners can't seem to get away from them either. It's been trending the past two or so years but they are probably at their peak now. Hence, some pretty cupcakes to follow:
And a giant one!

How To Be Famous
I'm watching The View right now and I am reminded of a saying/joke I heard that is so relevant right now.
I first heard that in reference to Bill Clinton/Monica Lewinsky. Now think Tiger Woods. No one knew Rachel Uchitel and now even my boyfriend can pick her out in a line up. Ms. Ashley Dupre, who was paid by ex Governor Spitzer, not only is "famous" but has a sex column in the New York Post and is a claimed "sex expert" or something (which I hate).
What other people come to mind?
It's just an interesting thought.
"You know you are famous when the people who you sleep with become famous too, just from sleeping with you."
Or something along those lines.I first heard that in reference to Bill Clinton/Monica Lewinsky. Now think Tiger Woods. No one knew Rachel Uchitel and now even my boyfriend can pick her out in a line up. Dwayne Wade Runs Into Brick Wall (Shaq)
The other day we were watching the Cavs/Lakers game and this went down, literally. It's kinda amazing. Reminds me of the time I was pushed into AJ Hawk (linebacker from OSU, plays for Green Bay now) but I didnt stay down like Wade did. Enjoy!

Kell On Earth Ep. 2
RULES
1. When a client says, "I don't want to talk to press." at an event and you listen to them and shoo them away, you always should know that it will result in a firm and confused "I don't understand where all my coverage went that you promised? Where was all the press?" the next day.
2. No matter what, the most important thing to do is seat the seven year old.
3. You will get fired for something out of your control at some point in your pr career. (*please see thoughts)
4. Must be detail oriented. Not just an overused saying.
5. Always look everywhere before you call to ask where something is.
6. Triple and quadrouple check.
QUOTES
"That's how you make a phone call. We can practice later." - Stephanie Vorhees to interns
"People should pay to work and learn with me." - Kelly (and it's a BRILLIANT idea! I'll take it one further...if you like me after, I get my money back and a job. 100% would do that.)
"I can't sleep for two hours and be productive everyday" - Stephanie Vorhees
"George Wayne popped the Swarovski crystal like a pill." - Kelly. (I love that man. Also not surprised at that outcome but more surprised and weirded out she was handing them out.)
"Kelly gets into the spiritual side of things, aka just pretty much making it hard for me to breathe." - Andrew
"PR girls in general spend so much time in the drama of whats not working, that if they just got into the action, the job would have been over and done, and they would have had a positive result, instead of a bitchfest." - Kelly
"Model down!"

THOUGHTS
- If you are a legit press person, who is invited, and has an invite, you best know what you are doing in that tent and if you don't, you don't deserve that invite or seat assignment you are holding at the back of the crashers line.
- PR people should know how to handle their crasher rage.
- You "accomplished more then what you had to" Kell? Signs of arrogance in a semi- meaningless job you think is world changing. But then again, if she didn't take all her work that seriously, she wouldn't be where she is. Oh the evil side of fashion pr. Also like to note that I did just mention the job I love as semi-meaningless. But that is one of the reasons I love it. If I do screw up, it's not the end of the world. It may suck, there may be consequences, but the world didnt stop turning, noone died, and my life will go on.
- *You getting fired for something out of your control...that happens in public relations. When clients aren't on the cover of WWD and that's what they wanted, it has nothing to do with your list. It's sad that this girl thinks it's her fault when they aren't getting to the point. I am sure it didn't help that it was a shit show at the actual show but the bottom line is you were hired to execute a job in proper form, and this was not done. In addition, clients will be crazy and never understand that they demand rediculous, unrealitic things that make no sense and it will be your fault. We already learned this in ep. 1.
- Why do they never mention that PRESS is part of their job?
- Its the middle of Fashion Week, during work hours and you go to get your hair did and you arent the boss? Also, wait, if you know a hair professional, you can just walk into a hair place and do it?
- How does someone with a finance degree get to People's Revoltion and I can't get an interview anywhere?
- i feel really bad for these interns. they really dont know any better. if something was cut from the show, like maybe getting direcions and not listening, i could understand but, wtf Kell! We know you are stressed but this doesnt even make sense. I cant stand when that blonde bitch says it, but shes also not an intern...if they werent told, they dont know. In the interns case, this is true. THEY JUST DONT KNOW. But that said...
- hahaha Meredith Melling Burke getting a gift bag with writing like that...peeing in my pants!
- I dont get why kelly was on the phone with that Irish lady. That was just weird.
- Snowball effect. Once you fuck up in an office like this, it all just goes to shit if you don't fix it immediately and get yourself together ASAP.
- Ying and Yang in the world - some people are amazing (Jeans Guy), some suck (Rucci)
- Why is Kelly giving Vorhees so many chances? Why does she like her? That shit would and should never fly.
- "Kelly went outside to tell them to turn their sirens off so people don’t think what’s going on in the show is a big disaster. Except, hello? The show was a big disaster. Jeggings were the star garment, a model fainted, the set looked cheap, and we didn’t even see very many people there. Frankly, everyone involved in organizing it missed out on the publicity they would have gotten if the world had known during Fashion Week that model had collapsed. Bloggers eat that shit up." (NYMag)
- That shirt Andrew was wearing was repulsive.

The Hurt Locker
Thumbs up! Adding to the checklist for nominees of best picture in the awards shows, we picked this movie and actually enjoyed it. I say it like that because of the circumstance surrounding the movie, I couldn't help but be a skeptic. The director, Kathryn Bigelow, is director James Cameron's ex wife (although only married from 89-91).
I always get a bit touchy with movies like this because I had a couple friends over there. All of them hated being there and wanted to come home. But then there are the few that live for it. Even go back. That was the main character in the movie here. With everything he had at home, a woman who loved him, a son, endless choices and freedom...he wasn't happy. That is something someone really has to learn how to deal with. If that means dedicating life to the army, or learning to cope with it at home. It's interesting to see the choice SFC William James made. One thing I do have to say is, we were only watching a movie that lasted 131 minutes and I was tiring of the lifestyle of bomb squads. These people were/are living it day in and day out for months at a time. I can't imagine!

Selling Virgin Airline Ticket
Would you like $330 Virgin Credit for $250???
I bought this ticket for LA last summer and wasn't able to use it. It's perfectly fine but I have no use in it anymore and just want to make some money back. You don't have to fly to LA, it can be anywhere, and any time. I just have to sell it before I lose it.
The amount is worth $334.20 and I will sell it for $250.
If you go to https://www.virginamerica.com/va/home.do and see a flight you wanna take, let me know! We can arrange something. Email me at rebeccajmeyers@gmail.com.
Thanks!
Becca

Mr. Newton
A couple weeks ago, a girl I know linked herself to a website she was on called Mr. Newton.
Mr. Newton in a sentence: "Resident of New York, citizen of the world. Street style photography and reflections on city life."
He really can capture something that a lot of photographers miss. You really feel the vibe of New York City when you look at his photos.

Still Life
My least favorite projects in art class were still lifes. If only I thought beyond the box...shoe box that is. Ladies (and gentlemen I guess) I give you still life with Louboutins by Peter Lippmann. (The Frisky)
Keep It One Hunded
I like Kid Cudi, music in general and blogs. I also like my mom's boyfriend's son, Jason. It just so happens he is the co-author of a really great music blog called Keep It One Hundred. So today, he has an article on Kid Cudi and I figured it would be a perfect time to introduce him to my world. *This was unsolicited and I would not just shout out anyone because they are "family" or a friend. If I didn't actually like their stuff, I wouldn't waste my time, or yours.*
If you are interested in the ongoings of the hip hop, rap, and rock world, with a little pop culture and randoms mixed in, these kids are on top of it. It's not just, "Here's a popular artist, listen to his track." There is actual depth to the articles they write.
I linked it to the Entertainment links on the right, and you can follow them on twitter @keepit1hundred and become a fan on their facebook group http://www.facebook.com/pages/KEEP-IT-ONE-HUNDRED/152040794048
Speaking of Kid Cudi, he hasn't been around for too long yet holds a solid career so far which is impressive. My favorite song of his is Up Up and Away (youtube). He is from Shaker Heights Ohio, the town I currently live next to. I actually have friends who went to HS with him at Solon. Kid Cudi is also severely disturbed, as the majority of his lyrics reflect. Kids got problems!
